Items of the Week

If you guys don't already know by now, I love to shop. I don't always have money to buy things but you better believe I'll bookmark something, save up for it and buy it later. 

Lately I've been trying to be good, I've been trying to save and not buy as much. That doesn't mean I can't look though right? 

These are the items that I am loving the most this week and they're all at a reasonable price.

1. Clear Peach Blossom Case from Rifle Paper Co

I was beyond excited when I saw this new case available with Rifle Paper Co. I bought a different case from her about a month and a half ago and I love it. But you know me, I love cases. I can't have one for too long. So I can't wait to buy this. It's clear so it shows off the phone's color (In my case it shows off the gold...) but at the same time it has a lovely pattern on it! I love her illustrations. You have to check out her site. Her cards are beautiful! 

2.  Han & Leia Towels from Think Geek

I don't know about y'all but I grew up loving Star Wars. As a child I was in love with Han Solo. In LOVE! And I loved Han and Leia's love story. Han was never really one to express his feelings. But he did love Leia. I love the fact that he didn't realize Luke was Leia's brother so he got super jealous! He showed his feelings then! Lol! But it took a lot for him to say I love you. Even to Leia. She knew he loved him though. They're my faves and these towels pretty much sums them up! Lol!

3. Deer Mom Artwork from Oana Bedfort

I have been following Oana on her website for awhile now. She has the most gorgeous artwork. Her family is gorgeous! She has two beautiful children. I love seeing all of the new pieces she comes up with.  

4. Modern Wall Clock Kit from Brit + Co.

I was looking at these with my coworker and work yesterday and we were just ooh-ing and ahh-ing at how gorgeous these clocks were. They posted a step by step tutorial on how you could make you own clock. I was really excited to see that you can buy the kit at their online shop too!  

5. Happy Mail from A Beautiful Mess

This is something I actually already have. I asked for it for Christmas and I'm so happy I got it! You know I love Emma and Elsie from A Beautiful Mess. Everything they come up with is just so amazing. They now have a subscription service where you get about 10 greeting cards and other stationary goodies for $15 a month. $15 a month is a steal for all the products you get! They are so cute and so fun! I made a promise to myself that I was going to start sending out more snail mail to my friends and loved ones. You have to check out Happy Mail. I look forward to getting it every month.

Etude House Pink Bird // Pink Box Review

Hey guys! I’m so excited to finally share with you the Pink Box I received from Etude House two weeks ago! I was so happy when I found out they were sending me a Pink Box! I had seen other people do Pink Box reviews online so I was so geeked when it arrived!

First of all, the fact that it comes in a pink mailer AND a pink box is just so cute to me! I love it!

It says on the box

“Dear Girls,

Roses are pink, violets are blue, Sugar is sweet, So is Etute. Welcome to the Play House”

How cute is that

So I opened the box and the first thing I saw was a flyer with a description of the main product. The main product in this Pink Box is the Color Lips-Fit Lipstick. It is a new product for their Spring 2014 line.

They show you how you can wear the product. You can have a gradient lip. (Color in the middle of your lips, while the outer parts are faded and don’t have much color on them) This is very popular look in Korea right now. You can also apply full color on your lips entirely. I read that one or two coats is fine. One for a more subtle look and two for a bolder look.

As I looked past the flyer I saw that there were four items in the box. There were two Color Lips-Fit Lipsticks, One Moistfull Super Collagen Trial Kit and a lovely Glittery Makeup Pouch.

So onto the review shall we?

The first product is Color Lips-Fit “Fantasy Fit Pink (PK003)”

I love this color. It’s the perfect amount of pink. It’s not too bright and not too dark. I’ve been wearing this one a lot more just because I really like the color. I usually put on a subtle layer of it. One full coat is ok but I think two coats is too much but that’s just me.

The second product is Color Lips-Fit “See Through Fit Beige (BE101)”

This is an orange and/or beige color. It is more so beige or a subtle light orange when you apply it on lightly. If you apply a full coat on it has a more orange look. Again one coat is just fine for me.

Both of these lipsticks start off as a liquid and dry as a matte. I love matte lipstick. I know a lot of people love them too, but the key to wearing a matte lipstick right is to exfoliate and moisturize your lips before hand. I usually make my own lip scrub using coconut oil and sugar. (If you can get larger grained sugar that’s better) I scrub my lips with it. If you happen to swallow some don’t worry, it’s not bad for you. It tastes good actually. Reminds me of coconut rice…Sorry I’m getting beside myself.

After exfoliating apply a nice moisturizing lip balm. Sometimes I use RoseBud Strawberry Lip Balm. It’s $7.00 at Sephora. Sometimes I use Burt Bees. You can get that just about anywhere, Target, Walgreens, etc. It’s about $3.00-$4.00 Sometimes I also use my own lip balm that I made. Whatever you use make sure it’s moisturizing. So no lip glosses. Those aren’t going to help you here. I would wait 10 minutes or so before you apply the Color-Lips Fit Lipstick. And you should be set after that. Gorgeous looking lips! 

The other great products that came in the Pink Box were the Moistfull Super Collagen Trial Kit. This includes the Moistfull Super Collagen Ampoule Essence, Cream and CC Cream.

This is one of Etude House’s most popular lines. Etute House has said that the Moistfull Super Collagen is one of the most popular items in Korea and one is sold every 10 seconds! That’s crazy right?! I understand why though. These products are simply amazing and I love them. 

This third product is the Moistfull Super Collagen Ampoule Essence. If you’re wondering what essence is I could go on and on about it. I’ll give you the short version but if you want to know more about it in depth Charlotte from Soko Glam explains it perfectly here. She’s the reason why I found out about it.

Essence is used to repair your skin, to bring the elasticity back into your skin to make you look more youthful. It can minimize fine lines, wrinkles and brow lines over time. You want to use this product after you wash your face and apply toner. In Korea most women recommend tapping essence into your skin rather than rubbing it in. If you gently tap the product on your face it can be absorbed into your skin better. This essence from Etude House is great. I bought some about a month ago and I added it to my daily facial regiment and I love it. My skin has a nice glow to it now because of this product.

The fourth product is the Moistfull Super Collagen Cream. This is the product that sold every 10 seconds in Korea! Crazy! O_o This has more a of gel like consistency but it moisturizes very well. You want to use this product after you have washed your face, applied toner, applied essence and after you’ve applied eye creams or serums. Again tapping the product into your skin as opposed to rubbing it in will allow the product to penetrate into your skin better. This product is amazing. I’ve been using it to complement the Moistfull Super Collagen Essence and I can see the difference in my skin. It glows!

The fifth product and last product of the Collagen line is the Moistfull Super Collagen CC Cream. I love BB & CC creams and they have kind of replaced my foundation. I’ve been having a more natural look these days when it comes to my makeup. So when I saw this CC cream I got super excited. BB & CC creams are meant to even out your skin tone and to correct the color of your skin (Ex: if you have redness in your skin this can help) 

 

This CC cream is very smooth when applied to the skin. It leaves your skin feeling soft and it smells really good. It’s not too powdery and not too oily. It’s almost perfect. Trust me, I have tried out a LOT of BB & CC Creams (See my Sephora Samples Post Here) and they are not all one and the same! I’ve used some BB Creams that were extremely grainy (EWW!) and some that were so runny and oily that they left me looking like I had been standing outside during a hot summer day.  The only problem with this CC Cream is that it is too light for my skin tone. It’s bad for me but might be great for you. If you have a lighter skin tone this CC Cream might be perfect for you! 

The sixth and last item in the Pink Box was an adorable Pink Jewelry Bag. I thought it was a makeup bag at first but when I looked at the plastic bag it came in I saw that it was actually a makeup bag. It has a place to put all your earrings in. I honestly have never seen anything like this, at least not in America. If you have please tell me, cuz I thought this was so cute and clever! There’s a pouch to put other items of jewelry, rings necklaces maybe. Regardless, it is so cute and I love it. I’m going out of town this weekend so I’ll definitely be using it!

So overall the products are really great! I highly recommend them to you all. You’ve got cute makeup and wonderful facial products. The great thing about Etude House and most Korean beauty products is that they are reasonably priced. Some of them might be cheaper than the products you’d get in specialty or department stores and the quality is just as good if not better.

Ah Ah! Korea!

About 7 years ago, my friend Leslie and I stumbled upon a Taiwanese drama called "Devil Beside You" and I swear the course of our lives changed forever. I know that sounds crazy. How can a TV show change your life? Well, actually it kinda did. 

Because of that show we started watching more shows. One of them being "Full House" which stars the talented actor/singer/songwriter/dancer (the list goes on) Rain aka Jung Ji Hoon (who I adore) This was a Korean drama and ever since then Korea captured my heart and has yet to let it go.

Not only did we watch Asian dramas, we also started listening to Asian music (K-Pop is one of the best things that's ever happened to me) we gained interest in Asian culture as a whole. We wanted to learn Chinese & Korean, heck we wanted to study over there! Miraculously, God allowed us to study in China for four years (my friend studied there for three years because she was one year ahead of me in school) 

While I was in China I met a lot of people. I have friends from all over the world. It's kinda awesome. Our second semester in China consisted of learning Chinese five days a week. It was grueling but my classmates and teachers were pretty awesome. Most of my classmates were either from different countries in Africa or from South Korea. My South Korean friends and I bonded on so many levels. To this day, I know if I ever needed them they would be there for me and vice versa. 

One year my friend and I saved up enough money and we were able to go to South Korea. I had been waiting to go there for at least two years. When I say it felt like I was going home, I mean it. I felt like South Korea was my second home, just waiting for me with open arms. I know that sounds weird but I felt so at peace there. 

We had a great time with our friends. The friends we had made at school took us around Seoul and Incheon. Leslie's sister Lisa was teaching in Busan for the summer so we went to visit her too. We had a blast! I wish we could have been there longer but being there for two weeks was great! We had amazing food, visited amazing places and made some great memories with amazing friends. 

Of course we went shopping there! Everything in Korea, in Asia is sooooo cute! I felt like it was Christmas everyday there. I bought numerous things there but something I bought that I particularly loved were facial products from The Face Shop. I started using these products and my skin glowed. Seriously! People would ask me, "What products do you use? Your skin looks amazing."

I was able to purchase the same items in China because, well they aren't that hard to come by considering South Korea and China are neighbors. After I came back home though, the products were a lot harder to find. When I ran out, I was devastated. I found people selling them on ebay but I was weary about buying them through ebay because I know people sell fake products and I didn't want to be putting God knows what on my face.

Recently I've been seeing a lot of articles and posts about Korean Beauty Products. Brit + Co posted an article about them (they deleted the article though, I don't know why) & Refinery 29 had a post about them too! It was the Refinery 29 post that led me to new websites that I now adore!

First there's Soko Glam. I love this site. They are so informative when it comes to the products they sell and then some. They're based in the USA. They've been featured on different websites and in magazines like Allure. I really like their site and plan to buy from them soon.

Then there's KollectionK. I about fell out when I saw their site. They have a lot of products. They have very cute products too especially from Etude House. You must check out these products! They are super cute!

I had bought some products from another website, Korea Depart, two weeks ago, but I could not resist buying something from these new websites I recently stumbled upon. So I'll show you what I purchased! 

The Face Shop Lovely Meex Mini Waterful Grapefruit Mask

Isn't this the cutest thing you've ever seen? This is a facial mask from The Face Shop. It is an overnight mask but it also can be used as a 15 minute mask. It is meant to leave your face feeling hydrated and rejuvenated in the morning. I am super excited to use this product and I can't wait for it to come in the mail!

I'm excited to use this product. I've used the moisturizer before and worked wonderfully on my skin so hopefully this one does too.

The Face Shop Arsainte Eco-Therapy Extreme Moisture Daily Moisterizer

This has done wonders for my face! I can't wait to start using it again! It's not too runny and yet it keeps your face nice and moisturized.

I have used some of their White Tree products in the past. The one I used was discontinued so I figured I'd buy this one. Hopefully it will work just as good, if not better.

I am so excited about this product! It is so cute! It serves multiple purposes. I got the "Peach Sugar Cake" color/flavor. I can't wait to try it out and show you guys.

Etude House I Need You! Mask Sheet

I love using face masks. It wasn't until I went to Asia and I saw lots of masks like these. I bought the Lemon one which is supposed to brighten and clarify your skin.

I'm really excited to try this product. They've sold over 5 million of them. I keep reading that "essence" should be a key product you use in your facial regiment. I also bought the trial size set of these products. I can't wait to use them.

The Face Shop Smile Foot Peeling Mask

I've been wanting to try this out for the longest time. It's gonna be weird because my feet are gonna peel but hopefully my feet will be super soft afterwards.

Etude House Strawberry Sponge Hair Rollers

These are the cutest things ever!!! I've never seen anything like them. I can't wait to take pictures with them in my hair! They are adorable! I couldn't resist buying them!

I'm very excited about my purchases and I can't wait until they come in the mail. I will definitely be doing reviews on the products I've purchased and of course I will be taking pictures of them.
